This is a very nice library that is contained within a beautiful building and grounds. They have an extensive media and DVD collection, which can bring you thousands of hours of viewing and listening or playing pleasure. They have meeting rooms and elevator access to upper floors. It's also always worth a look through their for sale section. You can usually find a good cheap read to add to your home library. A tremendous community asset.
Cumberland's library is spectacular! There's a lot of beauty in the land and also the historic building. The library itself is very comfortable, bright, and quiet. I there was someone practicing ukulele in one of the study rooms 15 ft from me, and I could barely hear the occasional cord coming from the room. it was pretty impressive! I also appreciated how the wooden desk chairs had a slight cushion(and also a beautiful view!).
A public library that used to be a monastery, and all the gorgeous architectural remnants are there to discover as you stroll the once holy grounds. Since monasteries originally gave us libraries, its poignant. Worth a visit for sure.
Really not happy with the two ladies in the front desk at the library on Monday at 7:30pm. I have two kids who were just laughing and having fun with each other I took them to the side of the stairs by the washroom so they won’t disturb anyone and then the librarian comes and starts looking at us like we are doing something wrong I just told her oh they are running up and down the ramp and she’s like there’s no running in the library . I apologized and tried to get my kids to leave the library nicely until we wee out the doors both librarians gave my kids and I weird looks and it almost seemed mean to my kid who is 4 years old and he started to question me why they are staring at us. So I’m conclusion I am very mad and I will be sharing my views next time I decide to stop by because that’s not how you should treat people.
Thankyou for replying back but the issue was not when I was told not to let them run in the library. Which I apologized for even though we were in that hallway for only 2 mins before the lady came to check I know because I had put a 5 minute timer for my kids.
The issue I’m complaining about is their snarky comments made from afar and the looks we received while standing in the front by the sliding doors until we were completely out.
Also, to add to the story above no one else was at the library and I understand ramps are used for people but they went up and down on it and were hugging and kissing each other I’m not sure how kids being kids can be an issue to someone. I felt uncomfortable from the ladies when I received looks and my 4 yr old felt uncomfortable and asked me numerous times why are they staring at us like we are doing something wrong standing by the front doors to leave. You can obviously side with you staff and hear their story but I am furious and hurt how I was treated like I didn’t belong there and that’s no way to make someone feel like that. The ramp issue doesn’t make up or validate what I’m complaining about so Thankyou
Very nice areas to explore, playground to keep kiddos stimulated, computer lab to 3D model in peace with, 10/10 you will see me later!
Good books! Kind librarians. Lots of light and comfy spots to read and quiet places to work and study.
The grounds are beautiful - worthy of visiting and walking the trails.
Great well maintained library. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. The children's area is amazing. This library also has a small book store (from donations) that offer a bunch of great finds.
